Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Red Wolves vs. Heritage Panthers

The Edgewood Red Wolves will challenge the Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Edgewood is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering The First Academy just ended the team's six-game winning streak back in December of 2024. They were dealt a 66-15 loss at the hands of the Royals. The game marked the Red Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Edgewood's defeat came about despite a quality game from Da'Varriea Robertson, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Heritage entered their tilt with Westwood on Monday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 70-33 blowout they got against the Panthers. Heritage's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Heritage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Edgewood, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.

Edgewood took their win against Heritage in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 50-28. Will Edgewood repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
