Basketball Recap: Proviso West Takes a Loss

Proviso West played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 55-31 to the Proviso East Pirates. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Proviso East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amyiah Dunbar, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dunbar a new career-high in points. Zulema Montoya was another key player, putting up ten points along with six boards and three steals.

Proviso West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Proviso East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Proviso West will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Downers Grove North at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Proviso East, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-30 defeat against Crane Medical on the 26th.
