Recap: Chaparral Firebirds vs. Centennial Coyotes
The Chaparral Firebirds were the 48-6 winner over the Centennial Coyotes when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Chaparral took a serious blow against Centennial on Friday, falling 56-14. While losing is never fun, Chaparral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Centennial is ranked second).
When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucciano Madda. Despite the final result, he threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Chaparral has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Chaparral will be playing at home against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge. As for Centennial, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
