Softball Recap: Shawnee's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Shawnee can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 17-14 win over the Crestview Knights. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Anna Menke, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kacie Carroll also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Shawnee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Shawnee picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Crestview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawnee will head out to take on Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crestview, they are taking a road trip to face off against Parkway at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
