Preview: Plainview Pirates vs. Wausa Vikings
The Plainview Pirates will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Wausa Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Plainview has five straight victories, Wausa has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
A well-balanced attack led Plainview over Osmond/Randolph in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Plainview enjoyed a cozy 43-25 win over Osmond/Randolph. Given Plainview's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Osmond/Randolph is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plainview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abbie Kromarek, who scored 15 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kromarek has scored at least a third of Plainview's points. Madelynn Dougherty was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Wausa suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], falling 66-28. Wausa has struggled against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Plainview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Wausa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Plainview strolled past Wausa in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 53-36. Will Plainview repeat their success, or does Wausa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
