No. 2 Hoover was hoping to head into the postseason with a ton of momentum but fell short to one of the top teams in the country, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). The Ascenders ended their regular season with a dominant 38-7 win and are currently ranked at No. 14 in the national rankings.
The 7A state playoffs begin next week and it will be one of the toughest postseason brackets in the country as Central (Phenix City) looks to defend its championship.
