Softball Game Preview: Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels vs. Marion Patriots

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels will venture away from home to square off against the Marion Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Tipton-Rosemark Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Benedict at Auburndale just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 15-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rebels have suffered since April 4th.

Addie Thorpe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Allie Nicholas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Marion had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Blue Devils. That looming 21-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Marion pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 20-15-1.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy couldn't quite get it done against Marion in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 8-4. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
