Baseball Recap: St. Francis Wins Going Away Against Norrix

St. Francis never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Norrix on Saturday. They blew past the Knights 12-6. Considering the Gladiators have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Thompson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Thompson was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Francis got a massive performance out of Sam Wildfong, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Wildfong a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Kane, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.

St. Francis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Francis' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Norrix, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will welcome Cadillac at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Norrix, they will square off against Kalamazoo Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights are facing the Maroon Giants at the right time seeing as the Maroon Giants are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
