Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Christian Eagles vs. University School of Jackson Bruins

Jackson Christian is 0-10 against University School of Jackson since January of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Jackson Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the University School of Jackson Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Jackson Christian sitting on four straight wins and University School of Jackson on three.

Last Tuesday, Jackson Christian earned a 54-45 victory over McKenzie. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Rebels are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely University School of Jackson's strategy against Trinity Christian Academy on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that University School of Jackson blew Trinity Christian Academy out of the water with a 57-24 final score. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 25 points or more this season.

University School of Jackson pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Jackson Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Jackson Christian came up short against University School of Jackson in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 43-37. Can Jackson Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
