Softball Recap: Italy Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Italy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt North Crowley on Saturday. The Italy Gladiators blew past the North Crowley Panthers 10-2.

Attie Barber tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landry Janek, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Addy Slovak was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Italy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Crowley only posted an OBP of .435.

Italy pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for North Crowley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Italy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-5 win against Lake Worth on the 15th. As for North Crowley, they will take on Venus at 10:30 a.m. on February 22nd.
