Football Recap: Culpeper County Takes Down Goochland in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Culpeper County walked away with it. They really took it to the Goochland Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 victory. The Blue Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Caleb Green had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Colton Green, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Culpeper County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Culpeper County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Brady Crowder led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Tyler Mcknight got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Culpeper County pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games. As for Goochland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Culpeper County will be playing at home against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Goochland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
