Softball Game Preview: Hilton Cadets vs. Irondequoit Eagles

The Hilton Cadets will head out on the road to take on the Irondequoit Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hilton will be strutting in after a victory while Irondequoit will be coming in after a defeat.

Hilton was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past Brockport 13-12. The win continues a trend for the Cadets in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Irondequoit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Churchville-Chili, falling 20-0.

Irondequoit saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Gaiteri, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That hit was Gaiteri's first of the season.

Hilton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Irondequoit, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Hilton beat Irondequoit 11-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
