Basketball Game Preview: Tolman Tigers vs. La Salle Academy Rams

The Tolman Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the La Salle Academy Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Tolman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Burrillville, who was ranked ninth at the time (Tolman was ranked 22nd). Tolman walked away with a 57-44 victory over Burrillville on Friday.

It was another big night for John Hilaire, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Fleury, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, La Salle Academy earned a 64-57 win over Portsmouth on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

La Salle Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Tolman, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Things could have been worse for Tolman, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-41 loss to La Salle Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Tolman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
