Baseball Game Preview: Mason Classical Academy Paladins vs. Babcock Trailblazers

The Mason Classical Academy Paladins will head out to square off against the Babcock Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row dating back to last season, Mason Classical Academy turned things around against Everglades City on Monday. Everything went their way against the Gators as they made off with a 17-3 win.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Babcock, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Moore Haven with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. That looming 17-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trailblazers yet this season.

Anthony Brand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Babcock is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Brand was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Colt Hughes was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-1. That hit was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Hunter, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mason Classical Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Babcock, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4.
