Basketball Recap: James Love's Big Game Can't Quite Lead York over Chester

York was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chester Cyclones. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cyclones earlier this season, when they won 80-63.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Love, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Love has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Mcilwain, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, York smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

York's record is now 1-8. As for Chester, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

York will take on Clover in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chester and Union County will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Chester likes a good challenge.
