Basketball Recap: Ponte Vedra's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Ponte Vedra entered their match against Fletcher on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Ponte Vedra Sharks fell just short of the Fletcher Senators by a score of 44-41. The Sharks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Senators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocelyn Hoffmann, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Hoffmann has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Haley Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Fletcher found their leader in sophomore Brylee Rains, who posted 17 points. Kristyona Harris was another key player, putting up six points, to go along with 13 boards and five blocks.

Ponte Vedra's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Fletcher, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Ponte Vedra will head out to square off against Beachside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Morgan Cremen and Hoffmann. As for Fletcher, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Eagle's View at 6:30 p.m.
