Baseball Recap: Metamora's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Metamora dropped their record down to 9-14 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Limestone Rockets. The Redbirds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Stephen Petri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

As for Limestone, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On Limestone's side, the result came thanks to Alec Williams's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Limestone saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Bitner, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metamora will square off against Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Limestone, they will face off against Pekin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
