Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Shasta's Winning Streak

After flying high against Laytonville on Friday, Shasta came back down to earth. The Shasta Wolves took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eureka Loggers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (61), the Wolves still had to take the loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eureka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryder Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Elijah Estrada was another key player, putting up 17 points and four steals.

Shasta moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Eureka, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Shasta and Pleasant Valley will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Eureka, they will host Kelseyville at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th.
