Basketball Recap: Malvern Takes a Loss

Malvern lost against Tuscarawas Valley back in January of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Malvern Hornets had to suffer through a 55-13 loss at the hands of the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

It was another big night for Leah Bourquin, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 16 points and three steals for Tuscarawas Valley. Bourquin is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleigh Norris, who posted 12 points.

Malvern's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Tuscarawas Valley, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malvern will head out to challenge Toronto at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Perry at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Tuscarawas Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Perry likes a good challenge.
