The Wyoming Area Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Berwick Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Wyoming Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Wyoming Area got the win against Greater Nanticoke Area by a conclusive 15-3. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.
Alexa Gasek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Gaylord, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Layland, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Wyoming Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Berwick's offense. They lost 16-0 to Dallas on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Mountaineers since April 8, 2019.
Wyoming Area pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Berwick, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wyoming Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Berwick struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wyoming Area couldn't quite get it done against Berwick in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
