League recap: Nederland blown out by Clear Creek

1A/2A Metro recap November 5, 2013

Nederland lost to Clear Creek 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Golddiggers led 1A/2A Metro in scoring this week by notching 44 points on the Panthers. Jared Cook threw for 90 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 104 yards in the win.

Will Kernc was a key player and the best on defense this week as Front Range Christian fell to Buena Vista. The 6-foot-1 senior recorded 1 fumble.

Logan Watson was a passing and rushing force as Lyons fell to Limon. He completed 11 passes for 152 yards and also ran for 78 yards. Watson's key target this week was Zach Christiansen, who caught 5 passes for 98 yards.

Christiansen was the best receiver in the league this week as the Lions fell to the Badgers. Christiansen racked up 5 receptions for 98 yards. Austin Myers helped Lyons' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.

Jefferson's Cameron Washburn and Lawrence Salazar led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Washburn has thrown for 1,633 yards this season, while Salazar has 28 catches for 830 yards. The Falcons' Tanner Matoba leads the league in rushing yards with 1,426.

Clear Creek made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,292 from 13,384. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-0 victory over Nederland last week.
