Recap: Rising Sun Shiners vs. South Dearborn Knights
The Rising Sun Shiners won the last time they faced the South Dearborn Knights, and things went their way on Friday too. Rising Sun snuck past South Dearborn with a 57-52 win.
It was another big night for Alyssa Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. The game was her 13th in a row with at least ten points. Jenna Peelman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Natalie Cantrell and Bernadette Wismann certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cantrell scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Wismann dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Wismann continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoey Heizer, who scored nine points.
South Dearborn struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Rising Sun's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for South Dearborn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Rising Sun will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Milan at 7:30 p.m. Milan is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for South Dearborn, they will head out on the road to face off against Oldenburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
