Softball Game Preview: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Reed-Custer Comets

For the second straight game, Wilmington will face off against Reed-Custer. Wilmington will venture away from home to face off against Reed-Custer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmington knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Reed-Custer likes a good challenge.

Wilmington's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Reed-Custer 12-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Molly Southall was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Nina Egizio was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Southall wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Wilmington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Wilmington pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reed-Custer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
