Softball Game Preview: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Kingman Bulldogs

The Monument Valley Mustangs will take on the Kingman Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kingman will be up against a hot Monument Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Everything went the Mustangs' way against Monticello on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-2 win.

Adrianna Dominguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Meya-Raye Bahe was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Hailey Etsitty was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Monument Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Kingman waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Spartans.

Monument Valley pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Kingman, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.
