Football Recap: East Columbus Sets Scoring Season-High Against Union

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hobbton, East Columbus was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Union Spartans by a score of 24-12. The Gators' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Dawson Crosby was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 154 yards and two scores. Those 154 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

East Columbus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kendall Thurman.

Despite the defeat, Union saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tobias Cromartie rushed for 141 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.

East Columbus picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Union, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, East Columbus will head out on the road to square off against West Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Gators will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Union, they will take on Hobbton at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
