Plainfield Central's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Plainfield North on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Waubonsie Valley Warriors, sneaking past 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaylynn Howe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Plainfield Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Sommerfeld, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

The victory got Plainfield Central back to even at 12-12-1. As for Waubonsie Valley, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainfield Central will take on Plainfield East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Waubonsie Valley, they will head out to challenge Metea Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
