Baseball Game Preview: Weymouth Wildcats vs. Brookline Warriors

The Weymouth Wildcats will take on the Brookline Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Weymouth's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Brookline has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Weymouth's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Sunday. They skirted past Durfee 2-0.

The result came thanks to Jack Reyes's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Johnny Pires, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Pratt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Brookline might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-3 to Cambridge Rindge & Latin, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Jimmy DePalo and Felix Ham stepped up to the plate in a big way. DePalo went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Ham went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was DePalo's first of the season. Hugh Bolinger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Brookline's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Weymouth, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 7-3.

Weymouth beat Brookline 6-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
