Football Game Preview: Gautier Gators vs. Hancock Hawks + Official Tickets

The Gautier Gators will take on the Hancock Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Gautier blew Pearl River Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Pearl River Central got their revenge. The Gators fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 17-14. The contest marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kasin Thomas put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 130 receiving yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 60 yards.

While Gautier came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Pearl River Central: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 42.1%. The team can thank Kyshun Carter for the heroic effort on defense: he. Gautier wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 65.8%.

Meanwhile, Hancock was beaten by Picayune 59-28 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Maroon Tide are ranked 13th).

Gautier will have to contain Kaison Koenenn as he made an impact in Hancock's last game. He threw for 294 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 92 yards and one score. Bryson Thompson was another key pass catcher, picking up 104 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Gautier dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
