Baseball Recap: Zionsville Comes Up Short

Zionsville dropped their record down to 9-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Carmel Greyhounds, falling 9-3. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Carmel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Carmel's part, Nathan Rodgers looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodgers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Looking ahead, Zionsville will take on Guerin Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Carmel, they will welcome Fishers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
