Cardinal Mooney had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Sarasota Military Academy Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Austin Shields made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on J.D. James, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Wyatt Hossenlopp, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Cardinal Mooney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cardinal Mooney's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Sarasota Military Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
