 Davie had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-3  victory over the R.J. Reynolds Demons. That's more bragging rights for Davie, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Davie got a great performance from  Cole Whitaker as he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Whitaker has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Coy James was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Hunter Potts, who  went 3-for-4 with a  stolen base and two  RBI.
 On R.J. Reynolds' side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Finn Daniel, who  went 3-for-3 with three  RBI and a  double.
 Davie's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 11-7. As for R.J. Reynolds,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-11.
 Davie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  match,  a  3-0  victory vs. Watauga on the 20th. As for R.J. Reynolds, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Tabor at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. R.J. Reynolds is facing Mount Tabor at the right time seeing as Mount Tabor is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak.
