Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County] had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 4-6 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds with a sharp 12-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Northern Freeze, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

As for Mahnomen/Waubun, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 25, 2024.

For Mahnomen/Waubun's part, Zach Zima and Seth Hlubek stepped up to the plate in a big way. Zima went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hlubek went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Zima has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tucker Zima, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
