Baseball Recap: Borah Lions vs. Twin Falls Bruins
Borah blew Twin Falls out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Twin Falls got their revenge. Borah fell just short of Twin Falls by a score of 7-5. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Tate Kubena was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last four contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ryan Gross and Carson McCarney stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gross scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while McCarney went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Gross has posted since back in May of 2024. Cordell Sparks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
