Basketball Game Preview: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Old Town Coyotes

The Mount Desert Island Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Old Town Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Desert Island knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Old Town likes a good challenge.

Mount Desert Island is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Ellsworth, who was ranked 14th at the time (Mount Desert Island was ranked 25th). Mount Desert Island took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ellsworth. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, Old Town had just enough and edged Hermon out 42-40 on Saturday.

Old Town's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Mount Desert Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Mount Desert Island came up short against Old Town in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 49-42. Can Mount Desert Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
