Basketball Recap: Pecos Skates Past Clayton with Ease

Pecos won the last time they faced Clayton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pecos Panthers took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-20 win over the Clayton Yellowjackets. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four matches in a row.

Pecos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalia Stout out in front who posted 12 points along with seven steals and six boards. Stout is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brianna Bustos was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Pecos pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points over those games. As for Clayton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Coincidentally, Pecos and Clayton will both be playing Tucumcari the next time they take the court. Clayton will head out to face Tucumcari at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Pecos will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
