Soccer Game Preview: Coronado vs. Socorro

The Coronado Thunderbirds will venture away from home to face off against the Socorro Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coronado's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Coronado took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Coronado who was credited with the win. Coronado got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Eastwood's one.

Socorro is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Pebble Hills on Tuesday. Socorro fell just short of Pebble Hills by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Socorro's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Coronado, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11.
