Basketball Recap: Parkersburg Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Elk Valley Christian

Parkersburg Christian scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Elk Valley Christian 69-65. Parkersburg Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Elk Valley Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

When it comes to explaining why Parkersburg Christian lost, don't look at Alexander Fluharty. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 20 rebounds. With that strong performance, Fluharty is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Joe Johnson was another key player, putting up 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elk Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Spencer Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. Campbell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Hines, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Parkersburg Christian and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Elk Valley Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Parkersburg Christian will take on Bloomingdale in a holiday battle at at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Elk Valley Christian, they and Victory Baptist Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Elk Valley Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.5 points per game this season.
