Softball Recap: Alva Goldbugs vs. Waukomis Chiefs
Alva took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Waukomis, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Goldbugs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Chiefs a 1-0 shutout on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Goldbugs.
Not much got past Trinity Stevens, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Waukomis off the board. Stevens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alva saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kambri Rhodes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Alva hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukomis struck out 12 times.
