Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian Triumphs

While Fredericksburg Christian's victory against Saint Gertrude wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Gators 8-7. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Scarlett Whittaker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Rylie Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reagan Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Fredericksburg Christian's record now sits at 5-3. As for Saint Gertrude, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg Christian will square off against Christchurch School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint Gertrude, they will face off against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
