Baseball Game Preview: Jennings County Panthers vs. Southwestern Rebels

The Jennings County Panthers will take on the Southwestern Rebels at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Jennings County will be strutting in after a win while Southwestern will be coming in after a defeat.

Jennings County took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Greensburg, sneaking past 7-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Hayden Low looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jennings County's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Meade, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Southwestern came up short against Brownstown Central on Friday and fell 5-2.

Jennings County's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Southwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
