Baseball Recap: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Ralston Rams
Nebraska City extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They came up short against the Ralston Rams, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-8 back in April.
Nebraska City got a good showing from Greyson Flash, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Flash gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
As for Ralston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ralston, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Ralston's side, the result came thanks to Dallas Whetzal's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. Whetzal has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryson Sargent, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Benis, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
