It was a proper cat-fight when Clay-Chalkville challenged Fairfield on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 19-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Clay-Chalkville and bumps their season record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Fairfield, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Looking ahead, Clay-Chalkville will face off against St. Clair County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Fighting Saints have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. Fairfield has already played their next contest (against Huffman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
