Basketball Recap: Valley Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Valley lost to Wood County Christian back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Valley Lumberjacks walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Wood County Christian Wildcat. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lumberjacks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while the Wildcat are ranked 94th).

Valley has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Wood County Christian, they moved to 8-5 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hundred at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hundred knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Valley likes a good challenge. As for Wood County Christian, they will take on Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
