Basketball Recap: Belvidere Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against North Boone last Monday, Belvidere came back down to earth. The Belvidere Bucs received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 66-48 to the Guilford Vikings. The Bucs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Belvidere's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Beaudet, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points and five boards. Beaudet is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Emma Pierson was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Guilford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Baylee Sandine led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Zariah Burnett, who posted 15 points.

Belvidere's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Guilford, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Belvidere has already played their next match, a 79-63 loss against Freeport on the 17th. As for Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-45 defeat against Rockford Auburn on the 17th.
