Basketball Recap: North Royalton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Vittoria Grotto and Sophia Kraus

North Royalton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Hudson Explorers an easy 50-24 win. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 659th, while the Explorers are ranked 106th).

North Royalton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophia Kraus, who posted 13 points, and Vittoria Grotto, who put up five points. Those 13 points gave Kraus a new career-high.

North Royalton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hudson, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Royalton and Wadsworth will meet on Saturday for a tough Bear Battle. Wadsworth will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something North Royalton surely won't give up without a fight. Hudson will take on Solon in a holiday battle at at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Solon has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Hudson will come in with three straight wins.
