Softball Recap: City College Starts off Right with Win over Carver Vo-Tech

City College took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Carver Vo-Tech Bears with a sharp 29-0 victory. The Black Knights have beaten the Bears the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

Brooklynn Murrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Murrell was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in four of her 11 plate appearances. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ja'Dyn Muldrow was a standout: she scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Imani Lewis, who scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

City College didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-6 win against Academy for College and Career Exploration on the 27th. Carver Vo-Tech has also already played their next game (against Coppin Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
