Softball Recap: Roane County Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roane County). Everything went their way against the Rockwood Tigers on Friday as Roane County made off with a 16-7 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Sailor Presley was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Roane County got a massive performance out of Rhyan Henslee, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Henslee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AJ Sandival, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.

Roane County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Roane County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Rockwood, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roane County will welcome Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rockwood, they will host Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midway has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something Rockwood will no doubt try to take advantage of.
