Softball Recap: Ruidoso Comes Up Short

Ruidoso extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-9. They came up short against the Sandia Prep Sundevils, falling 13-3. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sundevils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Talyn Ramos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Sandia Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Sundevils, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Sandia Prep's side, Amelia Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ozzi Rockey, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Zoe Padilla was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ruidoso is set to face off against their familiar foe East Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sandia Prep will challenge rival Dexter at 3:00 p.m. on the 9th.
