Basketball Recap: Emmanuel Carranza Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pacheco

There's no place like home for Central Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They snuck past the Pacheco Panthers with a 58-53 win on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-37 back in January.

Central Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emmanuel Carranza out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Carranza a new career-high in points. Jace Mclennon was another key player, putting up 19 points and three steals.

Central Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Pacheco, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Central Valley and Pacheco could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Central Valley (ranked 720th) will meet Beyer (ranked 265th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Pacheco will face off against Johansen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday down 738 places (1165 vs. 427).
