Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pinecrest waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Hoke County Bucks. Considering the Patriots have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

William Chopping made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Taylor Graves looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, Pinecrest got a massive performance out of Seth Norris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Norris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bohdi Robertson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Pinecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoke County only posted an OBP of .167.

Pinecrest's record is now 17-5. As for Hoke County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Looking ahead, Pinecrest will challenge Laney at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Hoke County, they will face off against Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
