Pinecrest waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Hoke County Bucks. Considering the Patriots have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
William Chopping made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. Pinecrest's record is now 17-5. As for Hoke County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Looking ahead, Pinecrest will challenge Laney at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Hoke County, they will face off against Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
